STRATEGIES! facilitated an international, bilingual workshop with officials
from regional governments. The session focused on defining guidelines and
gender-sensitive objectives for the ICGLR’s Pact on Security, Stability, Peace
and Development.

As a result of the workshop, the ICGLR Executive Secretariat identified areas
of opportunity for improved gender mainstreaming across 11 organizational
protocols and within 33 ICGLR priority programs, designed a gender-
sensitive monitoring and evaluation framework for assessing successful
implementation of gender mainstreaming objectives, and developed an
advocacy strategy for advancing their efforts. Further, the Executive
Secretariat created guidelines for the future integration of gender and gender-
sensitive objectives, indicators and activities into the planning process for the
33 priority projects.
